August has been a month of Slowing Down to the Speed of Life..........enjoying ourselves completely and affording a little cushion of time to reflect on the big picture. To just be able to follow, listen, and to laugh with them is worth more than it's weight in gold!

Perky and heading to Canada mid-May & returning to Grand Cayman exhausted at the end of July.
While we were in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, we spent time with family and friends and even had some moments of tranquility and organized well sought out chaos (if there is such a thing) out at the cabin in Sorrento, BC - Shuswap Lake.
Canada Day Parade - July 1 Look What the Stork Dropped Off
Dominic was born in Edmonton on Mother's Day, May 13, 2007 to Auntie Deb (Janis' sister). He's Zeke's littlest cousin but we have a feeling he'll be a force to be reckoned with as he was born at a whopping 11 pounds and 23 inches long.
We noticed there were many similarities with Zeke and Dom. Here's what we're talking about:

Deb & Dom at 1 week. Janis & Zeke at 4 weeks.
Dom born May 13, 2007 at 5:19 pm weighing 11 pounds & 23 inches.
Zeke born December 25, 2005 at 9:20 am weighing 7p 4 o & 19.5 inches.

Bathing Babes - Dom at 9 weeks & Zeke at 4 weeks

Grandpa & His Boys - Dom 1 month & Zeke 17 months
And then again - Dom 2 months & Zeke 18 months
Uncle Dan & Dom at 2 months

Uncle Dan and Zeke at 12 months

Peanut in a Towel - Dom at 6 weeks
Peanut in a Pillowcase - Zeke at 8 weeks
Ezekiel has two older cousins on the other side of the family. Their names are Joey and Tatjiana.
Joey is 17 and Tatijana is 21 so they have a wealth of knowledge that they share with Zeke.............or if they haven't already, we're sure they will at some point or another.
This is Zeke's cousin Joey. Joey looks a great deal like Zeke's Dada so he was doing double takes this summer. It was quite funny. I think Zeke was a little spooked.
And while we were away in Canada Tatijana turned the big 21. That's Zeke's other cousin. Zeke helped her celebrate. He LIKES cake!
This is Alex and Tatijana. Alex is Tat's boyfriend. He's a cool guy. Zeke really likes him (probably because he's Ukranian!).
TatS and Joey
This is Zeke and his Uncle Dan. Zeke and Uncle Dan...........sugar and honey......they're swEEt together!
Uncle Dan is an architect and lives in Seattle with his girlfriend (aka wife) Miranda (who is back in school working on her Masters in Child Psych (go figure?). Zeke really likes Miran Miran.....she's great with kids!
Can't wait until she has some of her own so we can return the 'babysitting' services! She's also good to Zeke's Uncle Dan which is a bonus.

And, as already mentioned before, this Zeke's Auntie Deb (who had baby Dom) with Zeke and Momma.
As you can see both mothers are great supports to one another while their children scream bloody murder! Teehee!
Two Reasons to Celebrate
Hurricane Dead Dean & A Happy Anniversary
On Wednesday August 15th, we woke up and realized that there was an eminent threat of a hurricane on the path to Grand Cayman - due to hit landfall on Monday the 20th. Niiiiice!
By Saturday morning, August 18th, we realized that Hurricane Dean's projected path was right for Cayman and was a strong Category 3 heading for a 4. A call from Jason's company UBS (Union Bank of Switzerland) quickly followed and we decided that it was best for the sake of Zeke's sensitive ears that perhaps we should evacuate on this flight.

A quick picture with the boys in yellow (a very optimistic color) before leaving the house and boarding the plane for the Bahamas.
We were sent to Nassau, Bahamas for 3 days - it was beautiful considering that our anniversary was the following Tuesday and we had an all expenses paid SURPRISE trip to celebrate! But the seriousness of the hurricane did NOT leave our minds, nor did the people whom we left back on the island.
August 20th came when Hurricane Dean (which happened to be 150 mph winds - strong Category 4) threatened to intimidate our serene little lives once again. Thank goodness Dean decided to head a little South and Cayman was spared. This time! Hurricane season isn't over until the end of November.
Jason and Zeke on the Beach at the British Colonial Hilton, overlooking Nassau harbour and the crusie ships.
Jason and I celebrated 8 years of marriage on August 21st! And Zeke was 20 months on August 25th. Zeke and I baked cupcakes together (from scratch) to honour both days. While they were cookin' we licked the spatula and the mixers. It was great!
When we arrived back on the island, George and Blanca took us out for a celebration dinner. George and Blanca are Zeke's Caymanian grandparents and our landlord and ladee!!! They are VERY special people to the Bacac Trio.
Wink! Wink! Zeke's looking forward to September!
Those who wish to sing, always find a song.
