Like a soft velour blanket that covers a chilled winter day, Sunday January 25th fell under colossal shadow. Heaven (lucky souls who dwell there) found itself radiantly ablaze.
If you didn't know how to perform a smilin' buddha laugh, Uncle Wayne was very capable of demonstration. He was one of these animated guys that could hold a repetoire of jokes in his tickle trunk and never lose people in the boredom while getting to the punch.
Wayne celebrated the achievements of others and honoured the inherent buoyancy of the human spirit. He was a believer in the power of possibility...setting "livin' large out of the ordinary" goals for himself, accomplishing things that others would only pontificate about.
Wayne was an authentic mastermind. He chose life topics he knew nothing about that were worthy of exploration and then he did just that - explored. When his venture was complete, he often unveiled his findings and moved on.
Growing up immersed in his influence , I soon became enlightened to Wayne's melody - he was one of the few 'adults' I knew that wasn't afraid of what he did not know. If he was, we weren't privy. To young impressionables, he listened to us as though we had important things to say. We were never expected to color within the lines within his company. There was something sheltered yet liberating when surrounded by his steadfast support of succulent imagination. One felt connected.
This was a man who exhibited mammoth emotional intelligence. When Wayne's 'life is terrific' ethos was packaged up and put away, he was very capable of discussing real life humanizing moments and how they intermittently weren't so extraordinary except for the fact that they were quite enlightening. Wayne embraced vulnerability and the humanness as beings that we all have to falter. And this is precisely what made him so likeable and engaging.
Wayne, thank you for showing first hand what it looks like to wild the tame. We learned from you that we don't need to be missionaries to have a mission. Our delegation from start to finish: LIVE-ly boisterous fun! For kids from 1-98 you were so earthly and fun!
Thank you for the memories Uncle Wayne and for the way your spirit lifted the lives of those who entered your synergistic sphere. When you were up, you took others there too. As you return home, may you feel that same lightheartedness and laughter that you infused into those whom were blessed to have shared your life with you.
Thank you to Elmer and Norine for producing a one of a kind. And Wayne, thank you for finding Joan and creating four remarkable women and their lineage that you left behind to treasure you by. Your soul is written into your work.
I love you. Your absence but yet grandeur of spirit will be felt as much as is felt when the 8 slumps sideways.
And one last request, don't fight with my Mom up there in heaven about who gets the neck of the turkey when Thanksgiving rolls around!
So I guess the next question to ask is "What are you going to do with the one precious life you've been given?

TESKEY, Wayne Kenneth November 20, 1950 - January 25th, 2009 The family of Wayne Teskey, announces the passing of a wonderful dad, papa, and friend. He is lovingly remembered by his Father Elmer (predeceased); Mother, Norine; daughters Lisa (Marcus), Lara (Don), Sheila (Bob), Susan; six grandchildren; four sisters; numerous extended family and friends. In addition to being a dad to four beautiful girls, Wayne in partnership built and strengthened Wajo Studios and enjoyed summer holidays on Shuswap Lake. When retired he pursued his passion for horses and his grandchildren. Wayne's sense of humor and loving spirit will remain with us always.
